37 Gallon Discus Tank Thread with Pics

they are definitely starting to feel a little better and i like that their bellies are looking full
the turq is looking the best of the two
good signs!

Thanks for the words of encouragement, I'm glad to be on the right path. Thanks for everyone's help.

j-gens: i read this entire thread and all your advice although good has had a holier than thou undertone. fairfax is learning just like you were at one point, be a little more compassionate. thanks

Oh boy, so this is going bad quick, let me clear up the confusion.

So "elau"s first post on this site was to tell me my discus were not healthy looking. Unfortunately he's correct, but the point has already been established.

"j-gens" has been very helpful through the thread. I think "j-gens" was suggesting that if "elau" had read the entire thread he would have seen that the point had already been established that the fish are not perfect specimens.

"haddaj", I believe "j-gens" comment to be directed at "elau", and I agree with him.

The fish now have a good appatite and appear to be improving. j-gens has been helpful since this thread began. They are still a ways from looking "healthy", but Fairfax knows that.

There's no reason to come here and attack anyone and mess up an otherwise positive thread. If you have useful advice to offer that's welcomed, if not what is your motive. With only 2 posts as members you would be wise to find threads which you have something positive to contribute, before choosing to criticise others.

happy holidays,
Glenn

I understand now fairfax, I misread and I apologize. I wish you the best of luck with your discus and definitely keep us posted because at one time I was very interested in stocking my 30 gallon with them, but I'm learning through you. Haha hate to say it but they seem like to be much more work than I'm able to commit!

-Sorry j-gens about my earlier post, I thought you were talking to fairfax and not telling the other person to actually read thru the posts to get a feel for the thread. your insight about caring for discus has been great and I'm sure a lot of people who are keeping an eye on this thread are learning A LOT, I sure as heck am. Again, I apologize!

So my fish are having bullying issues now. The biggest bully is the turq followed by the angel. This bullying is actually the most harmful to the turq because while the blue diamond and angel are feeding, the turq foregoes eating to chase the BD. The BD is really looking good and the turq's color is improving but he is still so thin. So I think I'm at a fork in the road. Do I:

A) Give away the Angel
B) Give away the Discus
C) Give away the Angel and buy two more small discus to spread out the bullying
D) Buy a Sea Clear 90 Gallon High with overflow and introduce 4 more discus (please seriously consider the other options before jumping on this one, cause this one is too easy to choose if you're not the one trying to convince my wife that it's a good idea :D )
E) Other suggestions

No Problem Haddaj, I can see how that got misread. I'm also finding this is way more work than I thought I was signing up for. I hope that statement rings as a warning and is heeded by others because I didn't listen before jumping in. It really takes this much work. It takes me about 10 hours per week to get these fish even where they are now:
30 mins a day on feedings
30 mins a day posting and monitoring here:D
90 mins a week on two water changes
90 mins a week at the LFS

Below are some pics from today. I've caught these bullies in the act in several of these pics. Why does my auto focus insist on focusing on the filter intake and never the fish! ugh, practice, practice
