I don't recommend stocking any Malawi cichlids in a tank that size, sorry. If it was a 36" long or 48" long tank you would have some options but 30" is a bit too short length wise.

I agree with Dee.

To me, the arm soaker height of a 37g is more suited for something like an adult sized angel as a center piece fish and some groups of other smaller fish.

Not to say you couldn't keep other small cichlids in there, like keyholes, shell dwellers, etc.
