3M Color Quartz substrate

go onto the 3m colorquartz site and they have a function to let you search for suppliers in your state.

Cool. I was on the site earlier, but must have missed that. Thanks.

I was looking through this thread as I am looking for an inexpensive black sand to use in my 150g tank. I can't seem to find anyone here in Indiana that caries it. As well I looked at the site at beginning of the thread that it says to buy it from but they only have S grade... from reading here it looks like the best to use is T grade.

Can anyone please help me to find this sand or an inexpensive black sand that I could use that is available here in Indiana??????

How does this 3m Color Quartz compare to the Tahitian Moon sand as far as being 'sharp'?

I had the black moon sand a few years ago and it tore the bellies up of quite a few of my fish, including an 18" Fire Eel. If this 3m Color Quartz is as sharp as the Moon sand, I'd be very cautious in using it. The sharpness of the Moon sand could also explain why Cory's were losing their barbels.

The S-grade 3M is smaller, smoother and much more uniform in size (all round) than TMS or the 3M T-grade. It's been described as the size of a poppy seed.

I have both T and S size in my tank. I have pygmy cories and dwarf chain loaches, and there's no barbel wear on either fish. I mix S with soil and top it off with 1-1.5" of T. S is just too small. It's actually smaller than a poppy seed.
