Here's the start of my new reef.
The tank is a 40 Breeder drilled with a durso standpipe and a return pipe. I bought it a few years ago from a guy who used it for a frag growout tank.
The sump is an ex-wet/dry with refugium area. It has a number of baffles and is actually pretty decent in layout. I removed the bio-ball section and will be installing a filter sock in that section.
The skimmer is about 30" tall and employs old school venturi technology. It may not be the best, but it works very well.
Today, I received 120 lbs. live sand and various rubble for free off of Craigslist. It will take some time to clean it up a bit, but it's not really in bad shape.
Tomorrow, I'll be hooking up the skimmer shown in the picture. I have to glue the impeller on my Via-Aqua pump to quiet it beforehand though.
I'm debating on building lighting or buying a fixture. Any suggestions for lighting a 40 Breeder?
My primary focus is going to be zoanthids.
A pair of banggai cardinals, scooter blenny, and some sort of sandsifting goby. Any suggestions on other sandsifters?
