I had a 40 gallon breeder tank become available when I got my new 90 gallon tank for my saltwater habit.

I have the following equipment...

2 sets of T5 HO lights... 2 bulbs each light
Eheim Ecco canister filter.... large one
2 heaters

Livestock...
Anglefish
Gold Gourami
5 Cory Catfish
2 Otos

Substrate is flourite sand and gravel

I have the tank set up and currently I am using my LEDS from when it was a saltwater tank. My plan is to add plants over the next few weeks.

I am open to any suggestions an feedback as I can use all the help I can get!!!

The tank is currently being lite with my LEDs hence the blue look.... I will be getting approriate bulbs for my T5's so I can light the tank with them.

You'll to make sure your light spectrum is between 6k to 10k for plants to survive.

The fixture I have is a two bulb Current USA Nova Extreme. I just got a 6500k bulb and a Floral pink bulb. 24 watts each. How well will this work and what plants should I consider??

Ro/di water will not impact the plant from what I have read, so you are good there. With the 2 24 watt bulbs, that puts you over the 2 watts per gallon to grow low level and some med level plants. You can grow crypts, swords, hygro, basically any low-mid-light level plants that you want to grow. You may want to lower your light fixture too, mine sit on plexiglass directly on my tank. You want the light close to the water. Also, on a 40 gall, you can do homemade co2 with sugar, yeast and warm water in a soda bottle. It's very easy and mine lasts about a week. You can also use Seachem Flourish Excel which is a liquid carbon, readily available to the plants. I use Seachem Excel instead of DIY CO2 now, and my plants do great. Look into root tabs for feeding your plants, www.bobstropicalplants.com is a great site run by a member of AC, and some liquid ferts for the water column. I use basic FloraPride by Tetra. There are lots of possibilities for your tank right now. What you can do is look up some pictures of planted tanks and see what you like as far as plants go. Good luck!!!
