40 Gallon Breeder Planted Tank Build

why 2 heaters? 4x 24w bulbs will give you enough light for most plants, but at that point you might want Co2. Pressurized would be your choice but if you do not have that kind of money go with a DIY Co2 yeast creation. Use 2x 2liter bottles connected to one line with a T-valve. I would suggest also using a plant substrate like Eco-Complete, it will fair much better for your plants. Also be careful with gourami & angel mixes... My gourami one day decided he didnt like my angels fins at all...

That's true, angels and gouramis may not get along in the long run...

Thanks for the info everyone! The Angel and Gourami have been together for two years. They do mix it up sometimes but now that they are in the 40 gallon breeder they seem to have their spots and get along better.

Question... I have a second Current USA T5 with 2 10000k 24 watt bulbs. Can plants utilize this light and would that put my tank in the high light arena??

They can use 10,000K. They can really use just about any aquarium bulb, it is just a matter of how well they'll use it. 6700K is simply an ideal, not a requirement. 10,000K isn't far enough outside of that ideal to worry about.

A dual-bulb high-output T5 fixture will usually push a breeder tank into the high/very high range automatically.

Just added some plants. Pics to follow. Going slow on this build. I did add the second T5 HO fixture that have 2 10000k bulbs to go alonq with my other T5 HO with 6500K and pink grow bulbs.
