Well, I have decided to change my 40g a bit. I did have an Amazon Biotope but I've gotten bored of it. I've already given my angels away and all the other fish in it, so right now all I have are a big school of cardinal tetras, some rummynose and green fire tetras. I do have a pleco (~4 in) in there that I want to keep and let him get big. I would like any suggestions on any ideas for the 40g if you have some. It has a decent light and a Fluval canister filter. I was thinking of trying out African Cichlids but would the pleco be ok with them? My mom likes parrot cichlids so I would like to try some of those if I can. Any ideas?

Well, if you are willing to have a single fish you could try a blood parrot. Although the reccomended size is 45g I think you could get away with a single fish if you were absolutely religous about water changes. They are very interesting fish and I wish I had the room for a tank your size.

If you got rid of the pleco you could put like 8-10 africans in there(depending on species). You could keep it and add that many africans but it would take A LOT of water changes weekly to get rid of all his crap.

If you go with parrots stay away from the jelly bean parrots, they're dyed.

Most people keep parrots in water with Ph 7.0-7.5, and africans need Ph around 8.0 so think about this when deciding.
