I was thinking of getting a sheet of posterboard and painting it black on one side and white on the other and seeing which I like best. I won't paint the back of the tank though, like I have on my 20 long and a 45 I don't have anymore. The background right now is Navajo white (my living room wall )
Java moss
Java fern
Rotala Rotundifolia
Red Tiger Lotus
Anubias nana
Anubias petite nana
Anubias Barteri
Sag. Subulata
Crypt. Wenditii "Bronze"
Crypt. Lucens
Some kind of corkscrew plant i can't remember the name of
One tiny little stem of Ludwigia Repens that hitchhiked on the moss
While I know when Sid gets bigger he will eat them, I am thinking of throwing about 10-12 whiteclouds in the tank too. It looks so empty most of the time. I know I'll have to move them when Sid gets bigger or let them get eaten, but I'm hoping to find room for a river tank with Hillstream loaches and whiteclouds anyway, so I could always put them in there when i get it set up, since Sid is such a slow grower.
Update! Added more plants. I also got a new filter. I found an Eheim Ecco 2236 on clearance at petco for $42, so I rescaped the tank and hooked it up.
So far we have...
Needle leaf java fern
Anubias Nana
Anubias nana petite
Blyxa Japonica
Dwarf Saggitaria
Crypt Lucens
Crypt Wenditti "Bronze"
Crypt Balansae
Rotala Rotundifolia
Java fern
Anubias Barteri
Ludwigia Repens
Red tiger lotus
2 mystery plants
and some very teeny sprouting wisteria that are growing from some leaf bits that got mixed in with the Salvinia I got for another tank.
Only inhabitant is Sidfishy, my Ctenopoma Acutirostre. I am going to find a new home for him as while I love him and think he's awesome, I'm unhappy with this tank having him as the only occupant. I feel I would be much happier with it as a small fish peaceful community tank. I don't have room for another tank to put Sidfishy in.
