4300 Gallon Plywood Build (3600+ Take 2)

Yeah, the 15th is too ambitious and of course when you have plans life gets in the way. Ken is supposed to come over tonight to help, so hopefully we'll get a lot done. This weekend is my birthday and the annual empty the ponds event at my friend Jack's house, so I don't know how much I'll get done. I have to resist the temptation to bring a bunch of new fish home from his house.

This behemoth is just BEGGING for a 3D background that starts to wrap around the sides. It would look stunning in there, rather than just a flat black background.

Of course, I have no idea what your plans are. I just briefly skimmed the thread. Just an idea, though.

I plan to experiment with hollow boulder building. If you have some ideas for 3D background, I'm listening. I know very little on the subject.



Ken's back is out, so it'll be Monday before he can come help. It's very slow going having to stop and start between gluing and screwing. I also have to be careful that I don't get ahead of myself and not screw down boards or put one board too many like I did tonight. It should go faster on the short boards now though. Those are obvious. This one was under front window and I went up one too high. No big deal, but could be a pain if I forget to screw down a board completely like the other day.
 
might could use sheets of egg crate stacked up on eachother coming either from the ground or off the wall, and use a fish safe foam and fill them and cover with gravel or sand to give a rock wall type feel, or in your case boulder

What I would do is this...

drill 1" holes through the 2x6's and use black pipe, steel rods or rebar to pin the 2x6 together..
Maybe a bit of glue and a few screws.

I would cover the entire inside witrh 2" PINK foam insulation.
then I would use Marine epoxy resin and fiberglass the entire inside of it.
it would be completely waterproof, the resin would add alot of strength to it, and you could make it any color you wanted. Not to mention the r value of the foam would help maintain a constant water temperature, and insulate your house from the tank temperature too.

Same here. What happened to the Pool Liner. Did you take that out?
