4300 Gallon Plywood Build (3600+ Take 2)

because to spray a paint of that viscosity would be almost impossible , as far as i could see the coats were applied with a roller so direction woulnt matter as much . personally i think pete is doing the right thing in getting fresh eyes to have a look.

that stuff stretches so much and is supposedly self healing so i , just like pete am stumped on this one .

also on wood itrs ver difficult to get a verification on thickness as normal guages will use magnets to determine the thickness. good luck pete

Bah, I spray material with that viscosity all the time. While yes it does take a special sprayer, trust me it is done all the time. Any decent rental place worth its salt will carry them. I can also show you several threads with concrete pond builds with this material (or one simular) being applied. Spraying allows a thicker, more even coat to be applied.

Even with a roller, directions could matter. I understand the 'self-filling' properties of the material, but using a different direction each time will give a stronger result.
Think of fiber-glassing. if you'd apply all the fiber matting strips in the same direction or you'd put them alternate horizontal and vertical. Same for applying paint or permadri coat, the layers will fill better by alternating direction.
It's just a matter of eliminating all possible reasons for a leak to occur, so I'd try it unless the manufacturer tells me not too.

nc0gnet0, I agree, sprayed glue many times, just to give an example. Just a matter of the right equipment. And no, that glue was not treated with additional thinner or otherwise. Just plain air-pressure and the right nozzle.
We used it to glue fresh flowers for decoration in a yearly contest.

There is a two part spray grade of it that requires a special sprayer. I have a hopper gun that I bought for the project and opted not to use it because the clean up and potential for overs spray. I may try it on the expansion tanks I'm building though since I can spray them outside.

When you build your tank, you're more than welcome to make your own decisions regarding its construction.
