I can now see where the teacher was wrong, but now I have to tell my 15 year old she was right! I'm never gonna live this down.

LOL

Yeah, she's gonna remember that for a long time!

And sorry about all the caps. Wasn't yelling, just trying to highlight the key points in the solution. :P

Okay here is a story problem.

Boy gets on the 12:00 (noon) bus at exactly 12:05 PM. There are 22 people on the bus. No one is sharing a seat. He also takes a seat by himself. The bus arrives at the boy's destinaton and he gets off. It is exactly 12:27 PM. He is the 12th person to get off while only 8 people have gotten on. Two seats are being shared now.

The boy goes into the LFS and buys 6 3" long Jack Dempsey's and 10 neon tetras. He pays $31.33 dollars total with TWO twenty's. The boy now returns to the bus stop. The same bus is on it's return run and he gets on it at exactly 1:15 PM. Three people get off as the boy gets on. There are 18 people on the bus including the boy. Two couples are sharing seats. It cost the boy $1.25 for fare each way. The boy has three brothers and two sisters, two are younger than him while the other three are older.

At exactly 1:42 PM the boy gets off the bus. Six people have gotten off the bus before him and two have gotten on. No seats are being shared now. There are 62 seats on the bus. 60 of the seats will hold two people, a bench seat in the back will sit four and of course the driver has a seat for himself (did ya think I was gonna make him stand through this very long problem)?

During the time frame 12:00-1:42 PM the bus traveled exactly 41 miles. The temp outside was 78 F and the wind was out of the SOUTH at 5-10 mph.

The boy arrives home and adds his fish to a 100g fully cycled empty tank that is full of water. The next day how many fish are left?

none if the tank was empty.

Depends on how fast the neons are

What is the speed of a fully laden neon tetra?

Two seats being shared at 12:27PM?

Bench seat that fits 4 located at the back of the bus?

$8.67 in change from the LFS?

5-10 MPH winds from the south? That clinches it!

I'm gonna have to go with a single Jack Dempsey remaining the next day.

Is it a South America wild or a farm bred Asian Neon Tetra?

LMAO!

I would think that farm bred would be more common. How many hiding places are there in the tank?

DOH! *facepalm*

I shall say nee! to you until you understand.

Nee!

fifth grade math. (maybe advanced college level in Kentucky) The correct answer is 288 when the order of operations is followed correctly. Work from L>R . 48/2(9+3) Divide 48 by two (24) whats in parenthesis next 9+3 (12). Final step MULTIPLY 24 by 12 (288) (those of you that are dividing and getting two for your solution are in error).

On another note I always wanted to be 6 of nine so 7 of nine would always be on top of me.

If you have never seen Star Trek Voyager you have no idea want I'm talking about.

1) parentheses goes first

2) suck on distributive property

you are oviously in normal college math in Kentucky cause the answers 2
