5 Gallon Stocking?

Honestly, about all I'd put in a 5 gallon with a betta is some shrimp. You could get three or four amano or red cherry shrimp (or ghost shrimp if thats all you can find in your area) to help keep the tank clean and add a little more movement to the tank.
I can't think of any other fish that would be suitable in a tank that size. Other fish like corys would fit individually but really should be kept in groups of three or more which would not work in a 5g.

That is kinda what I was thinking, it is for my girlfriend, her betta was in a bowl for a year, and seemed to be really lethargic, not breating well, so I got her a 5 gal eclipse, and now he seems great, and she wanted to give him some tankmates. I am kind of scared of what she is going to do to this poor fish now.
Shrimp are a great call for that situation. Maybe even a snail. Be careful about the plants you use as decoration with a betta too. Most fake plants will catch their flowing fins and tear them. If you use fake plants make sure they are soft and flexible almost like a silk plant. Either that or use real plants.

I feed my ADF's in a community tank every other days or so...so you'd need 5 minutes ever 48 hours.Possibly a turkey baster. Not a lot of time. You might want a pair though as they prefer company.
The betta probably dosn't care if there are others in the tank- if that is who you're trying to apease.
2 dwarf cories might work. (don't know if they require 10gallons). that would keep the bottom nice and clean.
Lastly, don't get into plants upless you want to put a bit of time in, have decent lighting etc. If you don't care for the plant, it will most likely start to rot and mess up your water with ammonia. DO get silk plants for your betta, not plastic, as stated.

i would recomend a snail or two or a couple of corys would be ok to they help clean the tank ..but if shes not the observant type the snails would be nice they will help clean the tank and can be fun to watch ...remember you moved the beta so it had more room adding more fish just puts him back in the same situation just with more pests in his eyes...anyways good luck with whatever you choose ..
