$50 craiglist 225 tank/cabinet/canopy DIY refurbish

Well???:pc:

Well like the tank seals the canopy is now drying having received a couple coat of stain and polyurethane inside and out about 35 square feet total. It turned out good but not great IMHO becasue I diden't remove all of the old stain which made for allot more brush work then I would have liked to do, not to mention the chemical buzz from breathing all those fumes even outside its strong as this stuff is marine grade used on boats. Lesson learned I know now that electric sanders are meant for sanding wood not taking paint off and its better to chem strip all the way down to bare white wood even if it means a few nicks and gouges here and there from the pressure washer.

But overall I'm very satisfied and grateful that it turned out good. tomorrow I may start trimming the vertical corner tank seals to a reasonable size say 1 inch on each side of the joint and 1/4 inch thick after drying, probubly some kind of record LOL.

Even though the bottom seal is a whopping 2 inches on each side on the corner joint and 1/2 inch thick I'm going to leave it uncut as it will be covered by sand and rocks and not visible on the bottom. Actual water testing is still a few days away.

Those carvings would really stand out if they were covered in a Gold or Silver leaf IMHO
