500 gallon predator pond!

The fish are looking good. But aren't bala sharks schooling fish? I thought they needed to be kept in groups of atleast 4.
Thanks!
They’re shoaling fish but this guy seems to be doing fine. I think it’s kind of a one or 5 kind of thing. You don’t want to keep two for example. Kind of like tiger barbs. It was kind of a rescue and I’m sure it’s most likely better off with me. Balas are very underrated fish IMO. Kind of remind me of tiger fish without the risk to other fish.

i see. I was asking because i was thinking about getting some for my pond. But now i am thinking about golden tinfoil barbs or marbled walking catfish. What do you think?

I don’t know anything about the MWC, but I think tinfoils need a group more than balas do. You can try one and see how it does but three minimum would probably be better. Tinfoils and balas will also school together

Post pictures of what they have when you’re there. I think your pond is pretty full now though, especially as things grow
I will go to the LFS tomorrow. I will post pics, but It's located far way from here, and it a hour drive easily. I was thinking about getting a adult zebra tilapia or bichir? Maybe a small baby oscar or golden tinfoil barbs. I will get rid of some of the stock later on, so that won't be a problem.
