I plan on getting two 150Watt heaters.. is it safe to get the Tetra Whisper Heaters from Wal-Mart? Or should I get more Penn Plax? I have a Penn Plax 150 in my 20Gal right now.. runs great.. but was expensive from the LPS.. only options are those 2.. unless I order online.. and I kind'a need a heater now.. What do you think?

Visi Therm or Stealth...the only way I go....

Our tetra heater was free from someone, its almost impossible to set, the temp can be off 3 degrees either way, it could just be ours, a heater is an item that is important, i would spend a few extra dollars and get a reputable one........:)

:iagree:

Yeahup.. not just yours.. but Tetra had new packaging so, I was thinking they'd have better heaters now.. but I guess not.. but yours isn't the only one.. all tetras are off by that much.. I was told.. just thought someone might have the "new one" and have a good review on it.. guess I'll stick with penn plax for now.. until I can save some extra and get the Visi-therm stealth.. Will one 200 W heater work fine until I can get my hands on 2 150 Visitherm Stealths?

Depending on where you maintain the room temp, most likely so. I like to split the wattage needed between two for less problems if ever a failure on a single heater. I have never had a failure with any Visi Therm or Stealth.

Well, I'm going to pick up 1 penn plax 200 Watt until my visi-therm stealths arrive.. I want to have the temperature right at least.. I have a flowerhorn coming over night today.. and I don't wanna dump him in cold water... alright, thanks guys. I'll talk to you guys later.. gonna go out and get that 200 watt and a new filter.. the Penguin 350 I just got has a crack in it.. was leaking water, bad...

a flowerhorn and a 55 gal tank...hmmmmm......

Yeah, I should really get a wider tank, but this will be temporary.. I'll eventually turn this into a fry tank.. but I'll have way bigger tanks later.. =D..
