Interesting branch, I was thinking of something similar. Did you just get it out in the yard & soak it? It looks like most of the bark is off, did you peel it or sand it off or what?

I got the branch from my yard, whittled the bark off, boiled it, then put it in the dishwasher for 2 cycles. My pleco loves it!
