i have a 55 with a 2X55 bright kit from AHS. with this amount of light should i be adding pressurized co2 or would i need to get another 2X55 to really see the results? also what about ferts, i use excel now but was reading on rex's site about his dry ferts. would they be the same dose with 2 wpg as 4 wpg. sorry if i confused ya - thanks for the help

5500 k rated bulbs,
plants - not much that is takeing off, would just be happy to see a tank of green in my house

@2 wpg you are border line depending on the plants you want/have and your photo period. ie 8hs no sun light getting to your tank than no you don't need it.

I get the idea that you want to do co2 than by all means do it. but you will need to do some sort of fertz.

excel is not really a fertilizer it more liquid co2. I would use any of the liquid fertilizers flourish, leaf zone or kent's to start with after you get the right balance of light co2 and fertilizers, move to the dry fertilizers.

if you post the plants light period what fish you have we will be better able to help you

not enough light for pressurized co2. But enough for ferts

8-10 hr photoperiod
some tetras, bolivian rams, clown loaches, ABN pleco, endlers, platys, might add some more later, my tetras seem to be dwindeling in population, i suspect the Rams

what do you recomend for ferts?? thanks everyone

AH Supply reflectors are amazing. They deliver more light to a tank than any others on the market. You are more than likely going to want to add co2.

As for ferts, that depends on your fish load and how much waste they make. Fish waste will often provide sufficient macros for a tank and only micro suppliments are needed. Once you cross into higher light and co2 supplimented tanks it is rare the fish alone can do this.
