Well, I don't take very good pictures, so these are kind of blurry and aren't as nice as they would've been if I'd been patient and waited for my husband to take them, but finally the plants in my 55 gallon are starting to look like I want them to, so I wanted to share.

I have about 1 wpg, and the only inhabitant is a betta. For a long time I was unhappy with this tank, because all the plants were so short, and the top half of the tank was just bare water. But finally I've managed to get the height that I want, mostly by tying abubias and floating plants onto tall pieces of driftwood.

Anyway, here it is :)

Two full tank shots:

This is one of the betta's little areas. He likes to sit inside that black tube. And I like the little statue, even though I've been slowly moving to the all-natural look.

And, finally, here he is, asking me to stop taking photos and feed him :)

Wow.. I don't think I've even seen a Betta tank that big.
Very Nice X)

Thanks everyone! And, yeah, he's very spoiled :)

niice! what is that plant on the left in the last pic?

Do you mean the kind of fuzzy bunch of plants?
That's hornwort. I have kind of loosely tied it to a tall piece of driftwood, to keep it from floating all over the place.

If you mean the one with the big flat leaves, that's anubias. I got a crazy deal on it. I was in the lfs, and I saw this HUGE anubias, and the tag on the tank said $7.99. I was sure it was a mistake, since much smaller ones sell for that or more.

But the guy in the shop said the price was right, so I grabbed it. The rhizome is over a half inch diameter, and at least 6 inches long. The plant is about a foot tall, and the leaves are as big as my hands. I love it!

Tank looks great. :)

So much for the myth about betta not liking big tanks. :grinno:

Do you have problems with getting the plants to grow due to lack of nutrients?

Personally I would be sneaking in a few Cory cats or Kuhli loaches to up the bioload a bit and help the plant growth?

But I understand the idea of a water garden, as opposed to a tank full of fish
