I'm new to AC but have been on MFK for a few months. I just setup my first tank, a 55g for a JD, and its been running for a couple of months now. I had a 3.5" FM for a couple of weeks, but the JD would not leave him alone. I then added a 4.5" Convict, but the JD then had 2 victims. I tried separating them for a while but decided to just stick with the JD for now.

Current setup:
5" JD (male), 8" Gold Spot Pleco, 6x Buenos Aires Tetras
2x AquaClear 70's (+ Aquarium Systems Millennium 3000 hob until they are cycled)
black 3m ColorQuartz / driftwood / rocks / artificial plants
Left bulb 6500k GE daylight / right bulb 9325k GE AquaRays / 2x blue 9 LED moonlight strips

The tank has been slowly coming together. I think next will be a more BAT's or a few Silver Dollars.

Thanks. Yeah I would probably need 5 SD's minimum and if they grew to 4-6", it would be too much for the 55g. I think maybe 5 or 6 more BAT's would fill out the school. I am also thinking about finding a new home for the pleco, its producing too much waste. It came with a 20 gal that I had at work and I just put him in the 55 gal for more room. I thought about replacing it with a Raphael catfish or something similar.

I really like the Spotted Raphaels. They are hard to see a lot of the time. They hide quite well.
But when they come out they are a pleasure to watch.
A spotted one would also look pretty cool against your black substrate since they are black with white spots.
