55g Planted tank (The Start)

Awesome tank BK. Really makes me want to get pressurized CO2!!!
I wonder how long a 50lb tank would last on my 75g?
I could get a free one from my coke distributor, I would just need all that other stuff for regulating it.
Does co2 in a tank get stale if you dont use it very fast?

Thanks Prolude
a 50lb tank would last probably 4-5+ years on a tank like yours. If you can get the tank for free then you are just $85 away (cost of regulator) from having a pressurized setup.
Co2 wont get stale if you dont use it.
Only issue i would see with a 50lb tank is it may be an eye soar due to its size. But you can get a cover for it and make it all "fancy" lol

sorry to steal the thread Bk but would the co2 tank with regulator hooked up to the intake of my rena xp3 be all I would need. How would I determine the bubbles per second or control my co2 level? Could I just do 1 bubble per second 24/7 or would that not do anything for co2 levels in my tank?

Thanks
Your tank and Jeffs will be my inspirations!!

www.water-testers.com check them out for the milwaukee regulator. It comes with a bubble counter and solenoid. Just get a timer and you can set it so the co2 turns on/off at any time you desire.
Also check out ebay for a cheap drop checker ($8.50 or so shipped) then head over to www.greenleafaquariums.com and get their 4dkh solution.. These 2 things will tell you what your level of co2 is in the tank..

With diffusion. You can run the airline into the filter intake or get another thing from ebay.. a cheap glass diffuser and run that at the lowest point in the tank.

On one of my tanks, I use a plastic bottle as a bubble counter(left over from my DIY CO2 days) before running the tubing into the filter intake. On my other tank, I use one of those ADA knock-offs from ebay as my bubble counter, inline, before the co2 goes into the filter intake.
