55g Planted tank (The Start)

Haha, sorry, I saw the string, just thought my ol' eyes didn't see something small attached.
I have mostly males, nothing happening. There is one female and male that sleep near a cave at night but I haven't seen any signs yet. I did see some females in Petland, thought of adding some competition and maybe that would get things going:)
Have you tried feeding them live bloodworms? also water change with water thats a few degrees colder gets them in the mood as well.

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy..... Excited!:headbang2: Looks good already, even if you are a big tease! :silly: I am so glad your starting this tank back up.

Updates? Did you change the stock at all?

any updates

I've only been back into the hobby for 4 months now... after a 25 year hiatus.. My initial keys were: 1. Accum inventory, accum nursery stock, accum livestock. I've upgraded tanks like 4 times in those 4 months so nothing has really settled in yet but here are my 125 (angel/tet/pleco/cory) tank and my 75 Discus/tet tank... oh.. and a 30L holding 7 apistos and 5 German Rams. No CO2, no ferts.. Bill in Va.
ya can't insert images from your own desktop?.. Bill

A year later comes an update...

So with school behind me and having some down time while searching for a job, I decided to finally get full control of the tank and see if I still got it..
The fish stock has slowly reduced to:
1 adult angelfish
2 bolivian rams
1 rainbowfish
3 kribs
5-6 cories

One of my recent upgrades was the lighting. I went from 2x54 to 4x54 T5HO Catalina light fixture. Though I currently only use 3 bulbs, I finally feel that this will be the key amount of light to grow the plants the way I want them. So with clearing up 99% of the floating plants that blocked the light to everything below and purchasing a nice plant package , the whole transformation began.

Here are the photos:

New light is on, some of the new plants were planted on the right side of the tank.

More plants planted.. The dirty background was a true eye sore

Black background removed and cleaned as well as the algae off the back of the tank.

Glass/filter tubes/heater cleaned. Black background placed back on.

The plant scape is still pending. For now just trying to grow everything out, then will rearrange whats needed/where its needed. Will attempt to purchase a few tetras or cherry barbs to add more life to the tank. Also managed to premix some ferts, get the co2 back up to desired level and hoping to see some magical growth within the next few days/weeks.

Thanks for looking.. More to come soon.

Your tank looks to be well down the road to restoration. Looking good man.
