Ok so Monday I go to pick up my new full 55g setup, the set up will be like this

Tank - 55g - 1 eheim ecco canister filter, 1 aquaclear 500, 1 aquaclear 300, undergravel filter, 2 100watt heaters one on each side of the tank for even heating.

Decor - river bed gravel, with medium river rock in it, and large rocks for formations and caves. 3-5 pieces of small to large bog wood for a natural look, and 5-10 small to large plastic plants.

Fish - (2) 3-5 inch FireMouths, (2) Salvini Cichlids, (1) 6 inch Common Pleco. Possibly 2 Cory Cats for bottom feeding, and maybe a small catfish, i need some suggestion of a catfish that would work in a 55g

Replace the common pleco with a bristlenose. The common will quickly outgrow the 55 and they are just poop machines anyway.

Cories should be kept in 5 or more. They like to school.

raphaels are really nice catfish for your more aggressive fish. They supposedly have an "armor-like" body that can withstand the attacks from bully fish. I use them is my tanks with Dempseys, firemouths, and convicts. They are generally nocternal and stay out of the way during the day.

I agree with nolapete, also...common plecos are very popular, but imo useless!

I have a Polleni, Dempsey, Texas and two rainbows in with the cories and they leave them alone. I also have a pleco in there and they don't bother him either.

I picked up 2 cory's yesterday, and the firemouths were scared of them and kept trying to avoid the corys, it was funny. The firemouths were looking at the cory's like what the hell are they. But now they just dont bother with the cory's, the cory's seem happy thus far, with no problems from my firemouths. Same with my pleco, the firemouths only bug the pleco when it gets to close to their caves.
