55g stock list. Hows it sound?

are you relatively new to fish keeping?

Discus in my book are one of the most beautiful of the freshwater tropical fishes.
But as mentioned, may become overwhelming for most hobby keepers.
they do tend to require clean water=lots of WC(water changes)
I was a little put back by the "I wouldn't keep Discus fish in a community tank." statement.
discus are relatively slow movers and might not fare well in a tank with agressive feeders like danios(very active, very hungry)
but I think if you choose the fish wisely you can keep them in a community tank.

If you decide to go with angels as the center piece fish..skip the neon tetras.
as mentioned..neon tetras=food for angels
again choose your fish wisely..and go for the bigger tetras.

good luck

From what I understand (from a fish keeping friend who keeps Discus fish and other people I have talked to) Discus fish will not do well in a true community tank. Keeping a few dither fish around, and maybe a cory or two is ok. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'd love to have Discus fish myself, but am partial to community tanks and like to have a number of different kinds of fish.

I have been in the aquarium hobby for 15 years or so but have never had Discus fish myself.

ive decided on angels, should i put 4 in there or go with 3?
