i know that you guys said that i would not be able to keep n. falcicula in my tank bcuz they are a colonial species. but is it ok if i just house one????

If there's space maybe, my only concern would be if you are planning on stocking another rock dwelling fish (julidochromis was it?) that they would push the brichardi away if a pair forms.

A breeding pair of julidochromis will easily takeover a 12"x12" space...and I would say the more rock the better chance they will try to get even more.
That depends on the layout. A pair of Julies will claim a territory which is likely to be defined by the structure around their breeding site. If you have a continuous rock pile across the tank they'll want the whole thing.

IME my pair claimed more as I added rock to the pile. Split it up and they won't go past their breeding area.
