55Gal need help picking fish

This is what they are this morning.
nitrites= 0
nitrates= 5.0
ammonia= .25 - .50
reg. pH= 7.2 - 7.6

Redoing the pillow, gonna do water changes soon(only quick way to lower ammonia, right?)
I turned on their light and the water is crystal clear as well!! Everything is so bright and clean looking. ^.^

extra prime (up to 5x dose) will help keep ammo and ites safe until you can do a water change, but water change is the best way to get rid of it.

yea, I just bought a bottle. Even if I clear out a ton of water, it's still up there, so I'm just going to use it as a backup. 2 golds make such a huge mess...v.v but they are so cute and funny

I have a 55Gal tank with a 90Gal biofilter, plants floating moss, etc.

3 Pictus, 1 Rainbow Shark, 4 Angels of varying colors
AND
maybe 2-3 groups of---powder blue dwarf, dwarf, flame dwarf or neon blue
OR
Boesemani with 1 small group of---powder blue dwarf, dwarf, flame dwarf or neon blue

With this work? Are any of these fin nippers? Which of these guys needs to be in groups and how many in that group?
Also, my Banana plant isn't doing that well, it gets medium light, 7.2-7.5pH and medium hard water, what can I do to make it ok?

well first of all, you can't keep 4 angels in a 55. there isn't enough room for their territories. you could keep two in there if they were a breeding pair, but most would only recommend one if they aren't a breeding pair.

rainbow sharks are quite territorial too, and they aren't a community fish. if you wanted to keep one of these, i'd keep other semi-aggressive fish with it like barbs and such. [not angels]

you cannot keep dwarf gouramis together no matter what color or varying difference. most gouramis in general can't be kept together for that fact and they would just harrass each other to death. you could keep one in any given tank. i'd suggest if you want a gourami to go for a single opaline. you could keep him with a rainbow shark and barbs if you'd prefer.

pictus cats get up to 10 inches so if you wanted one, you could only keep one. they are a peaceful catfish, but if you get a pictus cat bigger than your rainbow, you might not have a problem with them since rainbows will stay significantly smaller than the pictus.

boesemani rainbows need to be kept in a school, so you'd need at least six of those. they get to be around 3 inches though, so you wouldn't have a lot of room for much else if you wanted the pictus cat. i don't know how well rainbows and barbs or rainbows and rainbow sharks do, so hopefully someone else can chime in about that.

We are dropping the Pictus. Maybe a few Panda Cats instead. Rainbow Sharks-I've only heard and read that they are bad with other fish of similar colors. Also the Gourami, everything say they are generally peaceful as long as they have space.

well with most gouramis [i think an exception are sparkling gouramis?] you can't keep males together at all. they're very peaceful with other species, just not other males of the gourami type. they're just like bettas. most females are fine with each other or males, but males can't be kept with each other.

and i believe that rainbow sharks are especially territorial with other bottom dwellers, so i don't know if a group of cories would be an especially good idea. they might be harrassed a good deal.

i think you can get a lot of what you want with a tank this size if you drop the idea of the shark. you could put an angel in there, a bigger gourami, like an opaline, a couple schools of tetras or some boesemani rainbows, some cories or loches or plecos, and you'd have a nice community tank going.

How many of each of the fish listed, some need to be in groups, but it doesnt say minimum amount? Guppies need KH 10-30, so how can they be with the other fish? Is there a way to tell males from female angelfish?

angels can't be sexed unless they're breeding, but in a tank this size, i would only recommend one.

gouramis need to be kept alone too, or you will have aggression issues to the max.

boesemani rainbows need to be kept in schools of at least 6.

if you're talking about any tetra in a school; at least 6. bigger is always better if there is room though.

loaches and cories also need to be kept in schools, they would need at least 5, preferably 6 in their group to be active and happy.

most plecos do fine by themselves, they don't need to be kept in groups at all, and some plecos can't be kept with other plecos. it all depends on the species.

guppies can adapt to almost any kind of water nowadays, as they've been through it all.
