5ft desktop tank - crazy?

But... but... that's less crazy. :(

;)

but still crazy enough!

remember, your co-workers ain't fish geeks like we are!
Thye will think a fish tank on your desk is either cool or weird. A BIG (to them) fish tank more so :)

Aqueon (former all-glass) also makes a 33 long...I suspect any aqueon dealer could get one for ya.

Hey, a 20 long is ~30x13x13" That would be a good start and cheap...

True... *le sigh*

I may have to look into that. Aqueon lists Petsmart as a dealer. I wonder if they do special orders?

You keep getting less crazy. I don't like it. :silly:

you can do 2 of these and connect them with a diy pipeline since they are going to be on the same level. or you could just do 2 tanks without the pipe line.

Those are pretty expensive for the size, and the backs are black, which won't work for me. Thanks though.

Better check with the company you work with if you are allowed to have the aquarium in the office as well as all the equipment that need to support it. Some companies may not allow employee to bring certain personal item due to insurance and liability issue. Afterall, you are setting the tank on a desk that is own by the company and using utilities provide by your employer.

I tried to have a small 5-gallon aquarium in my office before and was told that was against company policy. Not to mention that the security manager indicated that the security guards would not allow such item on the premise.

I ended up using a 'big' water bottle on my desk as an aquarium. It had a guppy in there with some Java moss. I 'hide' the thing behind some books so people dont see it unless I tell them where to look. Since I was not allow to hookup anything to the electric outlets, it was more like a fish bowl or betta bowl.

I work for a small company that's pretty forward-thinking in terms of making the work environment nice for the employees. For example, the company provides drinks and snacks for us to have whenever we want. I have a 27" monitor. I was given a budget to outfit my own office when we moved to a new space, so I have an antique armoire for a storage cabinet and an African tribal tapestry wall-hanging. I love my office.

Of course I'll ask before I try to set anything up, but I feel like there's a good chance they'll allow it. Also, I'm the owners' daughter, which I really try not to take advantage of, but does give me a little extra leeway. (I also work a lot more weekends than the other employees, so it balances out.)

Less crazy= less $$
True.
Also a 4 ft would leave room so your computer screen doesn't block the tank much, more fish viewing for you.

Also true, but I've been trying to think of something to put behind my monitor because it's just an awkward empty space right now. Maybe I should just get a plant.

Do you have a place you can store a bucket'o'fish stuff? I can picture you lugging a laptop & pail in to work :grinyes:

Haha... Yes, I have room to store some fish stuff, though perhaps not in the antique armoire. ;)
