im buying a 5g tank.. but i dont want to buy those minibow kind they have the underground filter i dont really like those... is the a mini filter for a 5g... and wat fish i can put it in..?

For filter you have several options. A whisper 10 or 5-15 would be cheap and work just fine. Othr filters might work just a little bit better but the price is a bit more. It all depends on how much you want to spend.

I've had good luck with the smaller, quicker catfish (ottos) for betta tank mates. With anything else, it really depends on how docile the betta is. I've had some live happily in community settings and some that wouldn't tolerate anything short of an otto.
Otto's work well because they stick to the bottom (away from the betta) and are faster and can outswim the betta if he decides to bother them.
Stay away from other large aggressive fish, similarily sized fish with long flowing fins or bright colors, or nippy fish that will harrass the betta. Shrimp and snails will either be fine or end up as dinner.
Ottos, very peaceful smaller tetras, white clouds will work providing the betta isn't uber-aggressive.
