So I have a fish tank, I don't know the exact dimensions but it's between 25-30 I was told when I bought it.

I just finished cycling it and I have the following fish. (started with 15 goldfish, there was 5 when I put him in.

Albino Tiger OscarThis is Him, what I wanted to build my tank around. I gotta get you guys pics, great colour. He is about 2 inches. I bought him on Monday and he's killed all the goldfish that were in there from the cycling, except one. He has crazy neon orange colour and black definition throughout.

Bala Shark my friend had one and it survived with an oscar. 2 and a half inches Silver in colour

Green Severen all I know is the guy at Big Al's in Richmond B.C. told me could live with the Oscar. (got reccomended to go there by plenty people) He is rounded shape and 2 inches as well. Green in colour.

Convict Cichlid Read on a few fish sites that some have brought them up with the Oscars as well. He is about 2 and three quarter inches. Purplish in colour. Biggest fish in the tank.

Pleco Of course you have to have the sucker fish.

Goldfish last remaining one. Hanging out in the open water after the first 6 hours.

Anybody have any of these fish? Did I make bad tankmates? I went on the best info I could find.

I know my Oscar is already aggressive because he has already hunted and chased month old goldfish. However the other fish are the same size or larger. So all thats left to leave is the goldfish. But In the tank my friend had with the Bala & Oscars, there was a rather large godlfish, the feeder the never died. Who knows.

Now I completely understand that the tank I have is too small. That was the only research I didn't look into and I know it's a bad call. I am in the search for a good deal on a 90 gallon tank right now. I have spare pumps for it and can afford more rocks etc. So that's not a big deal currently.

While big als has some good selection, pricewise they suck. There are a few LFSs in the lower mainland region that you should check out. Try King Eds in Burnaby for a tank, they have a whole barn full (literally, its a barn) or check buysell.com or the classifieds.
As for your fish, you already know that you'll need an upgrade in size. I'd return the goldfish and bala (unless you want to buy more because they need to be in groups).

I agree, I would return the bala and the goldfish.

Bala's are shoaling and should be kept in groups of 5-6... add to that their size (12'', possibly more) and you're looking at a rather large tank, larger than a 90 with the fish you are going to have with them. Goldfish are cold water, while the rest of your fish are tropical, so the temperatures don't match and you're bound to have problems if the temperature is too low with your tropicals or too high with your goldfish.

agree with returning goldfish and bala, if you plan to keep all of the rest try to get something like the 90 or even larger if you can afford it, That oscar is going to be a large waste producer alone. untill you get a larger tank I would do large water changes AT LEAST once a week.

The goldfish was in there just because of cycling.

I think he got ate last night.

Last live food for a while for Oscar.

I've had them in there since 8pm last night and it's now 1pm in the afternoon, feeding them in 20 minutes, they are all swimming around nobody hiding and nobody nipping at anyones fins.

These fish are all excellent looking fish, now only if I could learn how to take good photos.

Also, what should the temp be at? I have it around 80-82 F

well I woke up this morning late for a meeting, and oscar was a mess, all his fins looked like they were ripped apart. He took a beating and by the time I had a shower he was dead. He lasted one night. :(

On another not the Bala Shark is swimming at large and he hasn't been touched.

The best news but comes kinda late is that I found a smokin deal on a 100g tank set, $300 for stand & everything.

All those fishes are compatable with an Oscar--Yes, but not in a tank so small. Get that 100gal. They will all be happier.

PS--Get rid of the shark.

Definately get rid of the bala shark. They really shouldn't be sold in pet stores any way. They end up being horribly nurotic fish and you won't enjoy having him in the tank. I would personally drop that temp down to about 78F.

If I was you I wouldnt buy the Bala shark or the gold fish. The bala shark will get massive, and the gold fish can't live with other tropical fish.
