ok. i recently bought a nova extreme 4x39 watt light for my 46 bowfront, and it was an awesome deal, so i ended up with the marine set up (2x10000k and 2x460nm actinic) instead of the freshwater. my tank is freshwater. so i need a new bulb, and was planning on 2 6700k bulbs, one plant grow bulb, and one 10000k bulb.

i found an awesome deal on a 6500 k bulb, so is there a huge difference between the two. heres the link to the deal,

and here is the 6700 k bulb i was looking at before i found the better deal.

as you can see, there is a significant price difference.
so my main question is, would it be a bad idea to go with the 6500k instead of the 6700k?

THANKS

ok thanks. do you think that four bulb setup would be good for my plants?

You wont notice any difference between the 6500K, and 6700K
they are pretty close to the same color, and both are great for your plants.
I would get whatever is cheaper, provided they are both quality bulbs

the 10,000K will look a little more Blue to you...

the lower the kelvin rating is, the yellower the color will be. as the K rating increases, so does the amout of Blue in the color of the bulb.

I've always liked a mix between 6700 (6500) and 10000...pleasing on the eyes IMO.

Totally agree... this is the mix I use. The plants grow like crazy and it looks great!

The cheaper bulbs might lose intensity in a shorter period of time, but for that price you can just buy a few extras. Great find!

thanks. im only gunna run the two 6500's and the 10000k for now, and add ine the plant grow bulb once i add in pressurized co2 in a few weeks. at 117 watts on a fortysix bowfront, the algae grows pretty fast. so i can only imagine what it would be like with that extra bulb.

THANKS for all the help
