6g to 10g, which fish to move?

I have a 6 gallon long (yes I know it's overstocked), all parmeters look good, although I have to do 20% WCs twice a week.


Currently in 6g:
3 Danios (which were in the tank while cycling, (I AM a newb.))
3 Neons
1 Black Neon
2 snails (w/egg clutch)

Bought a standard aqueon 10g and AC20 filter last week and it's cycling well....


I'm looking for the better placement of the current stock, which would be better to put in the 10g when I start to move them?

I would leave the neons in the 6G and add 2 more. I would also trade the black neon the lfs. Put the danios and the snails in the 10 gallon. Add a couple more danios. When the clutch hatches. Add some to the 6.
 
yeah, i'd take the black neon back, and get 3 more regular neons which i'd put in the ten gallon once it's cycled. i'd leave the snails and 3 danios in the 6 gal. and possibly get 2 more danios. i'd also get a dwarf gourami for the ten gallon as a centerpiece.
 
Thanks for the suggestions... I guess it would be best to give the danios more room... I'll see if petco will take back the black neon.

It was a big surprise to find those snail eggs (Golden Apples???), now I know they are male and female. Figured I get a bunch of snails (if they actually hatch), but not sure if I should pull that batch out now or squish them later. I'll end up separating them for sure. :)
 
Golden apple snail is a term in reference to several species such as diffusas, insularums and canas. Females can store sperm after a copulation so it's likely you may have two females or simply a male and a female. If you have permits to ship state by state, then you can start a business with the snails provided these are the true Pomacea diffusa. Anything else is banned for transport.

I scraped the snail eggs out of the 6g, to much for me to take care of for now. And YES, I now know these snails are male and female i.e.: mate .. lay eggs ... mate ..lay eggs ... mate ... etc.
(gonna seperate them.)

I should have put the danios in the 10g instead of the neons, the AC20 filter was set at half power and it still sucked-up my three, poor little neons (either that or they decided to end it all, together.) :(

On the lighter side, the black neon survived as the lone fish in the 10g for a couple days, so I picked up four more. After acclamation and a few hours in the dark they seem to be getting along just fine, but I need to keep checking on them.

(this is the 10, I plan on having some java ferns and moss to replace the uber fake plants.)

Sorry to hear about the snail eggs. LOL...You know you should be holding a business if these are indeed diffusas and permits are no longer required for you to ship them state by state.
 
Ya, problem is I have no idea what they really are... other than petco's golden inca snails :), but they're frisky little devils or at least the male is. I bought the female two months before the male and I'm begining to believe she hates me for that purchase. In the past I've seen the female flapping, as if to shake the male off, but now she just lets him ride along doing his thing while she scoots along and eats, .... then not long after ... more eggs. :headshake2:
