70 Gallon ?

I know nothing about the tank prices, haven't gone the acrylic route yet. As far as the dempseys, I'd say you'll be pushing your luck with a pair in a 70g, They get big and messy, and Blue are a bit less hardy than the standard dempsey's so excellent water quality will be a must.

A 75 acrylic is listed for 300 in Aquatic Eco Systems 2003 catalog..tank only. and I'd say a mated pair only in a tank that size

thanks for the replies. So $120 for a 70 would be an ok/good deal then. I know a little about blue dempseys and I would probably use this 70 for a grow out tank. The tank is 18" wide and I don't think that they will grow over 9" so in theory I could house more than a pair as long as the maintance is kept up.

Thanks N8

Now I just need to find the space and get the tank

have you ever kept large cichlids before? And I had a male Dempsey that was all of 11 inches in my 135. You could put a few in that 70 but its going to turn into a blood bath in no time at all

ditto. it's not about the bioload, it's about them killing each other.

yes I've kept large cichlids before. Midas 12+ Jaguar 12+ Oscars pushing 14, Green Terrors Regular jack dempsey more midas/RD's more oscars

Was your dempsey a Blue? B/C the blues are smaller and more of a push over than a regular. They can be kept with Angels and Discus.

I did say in theory it would be possible to keep more than 2 full grown Blue Dempseys in a 70, but I did also say it would be a grow out tank. So 4-6 1.5" ones would be fine.

I will have a 190 to put some in if need be I will also have another 70 well before they reach full length.

I really just want to know if $120 is a good price for a 70 gallon acrylic? The Dempseys can be moved/sepperated if need be
