I was also thinking of taking 1/2 the vals and selling them. I would then use the other 1/2 to plant around the DW. Does that sound good?

I have at least 150 vals(1"-18") + lots of runners.

Here are the pics of the asian stone catfish.

The new tank rescape sucks, so I am not taking pics. I had so many plants lost to algae.:( Once, I took the grass(vals) out, the tank was 1/2 empty + another 1/10 empty cuz of algae covered plants. I have reduced my light hours to 7 hours, and I am running only the 2X54. The hairgrass is doing pretty good. I am going to the LFS this week.

I am also getting a breeding group of 6 Brichardi Cichlids for $30!!! They are so cheap and are currently breeding. I am putting them in my 20G shrimp tank after I plant one side heavily for the shrimp. If that doesn't work, I will get a divider.

For the pics, the in tank holder is 8" long, and the RCS in the pic is almost an inch long.

****, my black veil tail angelfish just died. :(I came home to find that the intake cover on my marineland penguin 350 bio-wheel had fallen to the bottom of the tank and the filter was stinking and rattling as if there was something stuck in it. I was hoping that is was just a plant leaf, but I found my almost adult(3"-4") angel curled awkwardly into it. It must have swam into it looking for food and got stuck.:(
That was my 2nd most favorite angelfish
i took off that filter.

:(

Is the 20 gallon a long or tall? the brichardis will need some space. They get to be a decent size (4" or so). It sounds like it's a pair with fry since they are not harem breeders. they are neat cichlids but you won't be able to keep anything else with them. They have been known to kill and take over even large tanks. They are known as the death squad :) They form family colonies with older fry helping to raise younger fry. It's a neat behavior but eventually they need more and more space to sustain the colony. If they don't have enough they can start killing each other. Once breeding they are like rabbits so you'll have plenty of fry. I don't think the shrimp will last long at all either.

The 20G is a tall tank. I am setting up another 10G in my little brothers room for his betta(it is with the shrimp right now). Btw, I will be selling most of the brichardis(babies and some adults). I am planning to keep only 1 male and 2 females after they first spawn in my tank. I think it is pretty cool that they all protect the young whether they are theirs or not, and that is why I am letting the whole group raise the first fry(I really want to see that behavior). I might even sell on this forum for like $0.50 per baby.
My main goal is to supply my LFS with them so I can get store credit to completely plant my 72G.

thanks

Thanks for the heads up. Yeah, I will do that. Is it easy to tell which 2 are a pair?
Will they stay together full time?
I will still buy the 6 though, so I can see the group raising behavior. Then I might keep some juvies in my 72G until they get older. Then I will sell them.

thanks

Thanks
I am not putting the tiny Asian stone catfish in the 72g because they are so tiny and camoflouge so well. I can't even find thm in my 20g.

I am hoping to replace the angel soon. But this one was a long fin black veil tail with a slash of silvr. :(
