I found my parts to my rena xp that I had lost so I set up the spray bar and turned down the water flow. My discus seem much happier and my plants are now staying in place. I seem to be getting some better gas exchange at the surface now as well. I also spread out my scape more to give a larger feel to the tank. I planted my rotala to grow in the back middle so it will fill in the whole rear top above the java fern. Had a floater(stargrass) and my crypts have not come in yet.
I took some shots with my camera (cannon S2 IS..anyone have tips for this camera) with the fluorescent light setting and some without. I like the flouro setting but its too bright in spots. Tips appreciated.

Gorgeous setup! I like your wood. I need to find a nice piece like that. However, your planting seems fairly symmetric. Just observing though hehe. Your aquarium still looks great. Those discus make me wish I had a bigger aquarium :p.

Are you planning on filling out the sides more or keeping the island around the wood?

Thanks for the tips and comments!

The surrounding unplanted area will be a carpet of micro sword and HM.
The middle will fill in with needle leaf java fern and the back will be a bushy rotala to top it off. Im not sure what im doing with the stargrass and my crypts have yet to pop up yet.
It should have a less symetrical feel once its established.
This is day one of the rescape so ill post updates to this as it matures.
I like the current setup so im gonna leave it be for some time now.

Very nice. It seems to me that there's a bit of a void on the right side of the arrangement however, perhaps another well placed plant or adjusting the driftwood a little would help.

Wow! Discus are one of my favorite freshwater fish up there with Blue rams. I always like the combination of a planted tank with the Discus, but I've never been successful at both at any one time. I might give it another shot now.

Enjoy.

:thm:nice. I can't wait to see how you fill out the tank.

mr goodbytes, the discus will fill out the space when full grown

i have mine in a 75 and now want to upgrade to a much larger tank as i discovered discus will easily reach 6" round.
my 75 is looking small now. luckily discus don't need a ton of swimming space.;)
