75g re-scape CA cichlid tank

Thanks guys! I'm tempted to try some giant vals for the background but I'm pretty sure the fish will dig them up. Any suggestions?

You could get a couple and try it?!

Is there a way you could put them around the wood or in between a couple pieces to protect the base of the plants?

It looks great! For the Vals AC Moore sells a plastic mesh that you maybe able to cut and push the Val through giving it a larger area to keep them buried in the gravel. The mesh is sometimes used for moss walls and alike.

Good Luck!

I had 2 young breeding pairs of Nic's in a 55 many years ago. They also shared the tank with a group of red-tail botia's. I had a large plastic cup at each end of the tank, and the botia's hung out under a rock pile. Both pairs spawned w/wout any conflict, though I didn't leave the fry with them very long after they hatched. (It's much easier to move the fry before they're free-swimming.) Nic's are somewhat odd, they don't lay adhesive eggs like most SA or CA cichlids. Consequently, the plastic cups (more than big enough for the pair/s to fit into) worked well for me.
