75G setup

Just re-did my existing 75 gallon tank. currently the only occupant is a 5 inch common pleco which has been the only fish in the tank for about 6 months. I bought a new stand and canopy so I had to completly empty tank, so it has to cycle again. Any who, I plan on setting up with:

2 Jack Dempseys
1 Green Terror
3 Pictus catfish
1 Common pleco (already there)

I think this sounds like a decent setup for the tank size but I want to have some more bottom dwellers but don't know what to get. I want some that are interesting that can survive the other fish. Any suggestions?? I don't plan on getting any thing till the tank is cycled which will probably be about a month I am guessing since there was still some good bacteria in the tank. Thanks!!

Maybe some amano shrimp? I'm not sure if they would be bothered or not.

does any one know if the amano shrimp will get ate by the JD or GT? They seem sweet but I am thinking they may be to small to survive.

Chances are, they would eat the shrimp. Also, as you probably already know, the common pleco will grow much too big for your tank. Watch out for aggression issues between the cichlids as well.

how is a common pleco going to be to big for a 75 gallon tank (48" x 18" x 24") ? Just curious where your coming up with that?? Never heard any one say that before being that the max they usually get is around 12" or so.

I prefer Oscars >_<. There's a really nice strain of colors that Oscars have, its a rare green tigerish pattern. i love it.

Common plecos can eaisly surpass 12" they have a Gibbiceps (common) at my LFS thats around 16ish inches. Also if your tank has any decorations then dont count that 18" deep because it would be hard for a large fish to turn around in a tank with only 3" of space on both sides (6" total) especially with decor to get in the way. Not to mention they are POOP FACTORIES.

Also IMO with 2 JD's 1 GT and 3 Pictus, when they are fullgrown that tank will be as fully stocked as I would go....biologically speaking, not necisarrily size wise.

I see what your saying about the pleco now. Guess I will cross that bridge when I get there. Right now I will keep him in there.
