Very nice skip
A few questions:
How do you keep the humidity?
Who are the tank mates? Do any of the larger FW fish beat up on the skippers? Do the skippers attack any smaller tank mates?
How long did it take to leach those chunks of driftwood of tannins? Also, how did you get the water to dribble from the top?
Thanks
I'm leaving for a holiday tomorrow, I might not be able to read your answer until I get back.
I'm not too sure about your humidity question, but as far as evaporation, yes, the water dose evaporate quite quickly as it dose in all of with all our aquariums... On this particular one, I just let things evaporate. It evaporates about 3 inches or so each week, then we do our weekly water change and fill it back up. I personally like the water to evaporate with this tank, when we first fill up the tank after a water change they have more limited room and then as the water evaporates the skipps then get to explore wood that the corys had just swam on the other day.... Personally, I think thats cool. lol. Though, as for the other tanks, evaporation is a pain.
As for your question about the other tank mates, I believe they are all listed in my sig. And no, no one beats up on the skipps and the skipps don't bother anyone other then themselves.
And about the 'tannins' from the wood, Its still soaking out of the wood. All I did was give the best scrub and soak I possibly could, and then put them in the tank. As you can see in an older pic on a previous page, the water still has that 'dirty' look to it... And personally, I feel like the tannins give the tank more of a natural look... but maybe thats just me...
And as for your last question.... The water supplied to the top of the wood is from the Aqua Clear and a lot of pumps. We just used random pumps for power heads and thing like that, and hooked a hose up to them... Thats pretty much the jist of it...
