if this was ur tank and u wanted to do a communtiy tank WHAT would u stock it with?

im thinking of geting out of cichlids * well the bigger ones anyways maybe do a few smaller ones like apistos or rams ) and just do a community tank

A peaceful SA community is probably what I would do. Tetras, cories, hatchets, and a few cichlids like rams, festivums, keyholes, etc.

I'm actually about to set up a 75 community around my 4 Geo. abalios.
Permanent stock will probably be something like:
4 Geos
2 Festivums
Cory school
1 or 2 tetras schools
and maybe hatchets

I also have a few small fish that may live in the tank temporarily to growout like my baby uaru, baby flagtail, and young South American lungfish, but none of these fish would be able to stay in a the setup longterm

if i did corys id have 15 total ( 3 diff types of 5 each ) or maybe one big schooling type of cory like albino or bronze. or 20 corys ( im starting to like them lol ) 10 albino 10 bronze

so this is what i was thinking...
for the bottom dwellers:
15 to 20 corys ( if not that many then atleast 12 no less )
6 to 10 kholio loaches ( i miss raiseing them )
3 brigs ( wanna try snails )
15 to 20 shrimps ( prolly ghost shrimps )
2 rams or kribs or apisto ( if apistos then i may do 4 )

middle dwellers:
10 to 15 neon tetras
10 to 15 black neons
1 male 4 female swordtails
1 male 4 female platys
2 male 6 female guppys

top dwellers:
12 danios
8 glofish danios
12 hatchets ( if they are able to do open top tank cause i have no top on my tank )

and i may get some type of shark or 2 ( not balas )

so how does that sound.
tank will have fake plants im not doin live plants yet

What are the dimensions of the tank? Thats a very important aspect of stocking. I've seen quite a variety when searching so it would be nice to know the footprint you have to work with.

You have way too many schooling fish. Pick one or two schools of tetras/danios.

Pick between the livebearers as well...you really dont have much room for all three groups plus any fry that may survive.

Skip any sharks. Both RTS and rainbows (ones that would fit) would be a bad choice given the stocking density you're trying to achieve. Unless you want to abandon most of the bottom dwellers I wouldnt add them.

i may just make this a convict community tank with just livebearers..

keep my 7 cons maybe addd one more to make 8 then add a huge group of swordtails or female guppys ( petsmart has 5 for 5 dollars for guppys and a few other fish ) im gunna get rid of my devil

right now i got my devil down in the sump ( its as big as my 20 gallon but 14 inches wide ) tell this week wen i get to the petstore to turn him in for credit then getting some swordtails or guppys and one bristle nose ( for now )
my cons seem more active since the devil isnt in there
