8W pg to much?

I have been looking for CFLs to replace the incandecent bulbs in my 10gl hood the only ones I can find that tell me they are close to the proper color temp. are 6500k 40 watt bulbs. Will 80 watts cause extreem problems or just normal high light situations?

Do they use 40watt or replace (equivalent) to a 40watt bulb?

replace 40W. they are like 7 watt each. thats partially why I want to replace the 2 15 watt incandecant.

actual light with those is only 14 watts the replacement value doesnt count

K so I now have a very bright low light tank. That may be even better as I was planning on using potted plants and keeping things simple and clean for a qt tank but with plants for security/comfort of inhabitants but have the plants simple and quick to remove if needed. Hence the worry about the extreme replacement rating for a 10gl tank.
