I guess its preference but i think sand is more easy

How do you clean it when poop and stuff gets in it. Surface skimming the gravel vac never got the junk off of it for me and when I went any lower with it it would suck up a junk load of sand. I used play sand which perhaps is finer, but still. Would all purpose sand be better?

Can you send me a pic of the gravel and a link where I can get it as I seem to be having a difficult time finding it.

There are 4 substrates I'm currently considering:

1. Activ-Flora ("planted aquarium substrate")
2. Super Naturals Aquarium Gravel
3. Quikrete All Purpose Gravel
4. The biggest substrate you can get at Petco (at least my petco)

I bought mine at Petland. Each bag was $15, I spent $32.00 total. Just make sure you rinse it very well.

If you cant find it, I am willing to buy it for you. You just send me what it will cost and shipping if you cant find it and really want it.

I appreciate it, but I think I will continue to look around. I will certain ly let you know if I change my mind though!!!

Your tank looks great btw.

If you are willing to consider a sand substrate, 3M colorquartz sand is very easy to clean in my opinion. I have black S-grade in my tank and have no problems vacuuming it -- even if some gets sucked up into the vac tube it usually falls back down into the tank. All of the waste stays on top, so it's just a matter of holding the vac low enough to suck it up.

Colorquartz is quite heavy as far as sand goes and will sink right back down to the bottom if you stir it up (i.e. as long as you rinse it well before putting it in the tank, it will never cloud the water in the future). It's cheap and looks spectacular.

Wow, it's beautiful! I'm pretty sure I'm going to use this in my 29 once I finally get to changing the substrate. I do kinda want larger rocks in my 90 though. You have no idea how much I appreciate the sand suggestion though as I've been looking for just that type of sand. =) thx

GAAAAAA

I cut my thumb =(
This is going to make all of my future tasks harder =p.

That sand is gorgeous! But I hear it is extremely hard to find! I even went to their website to find the closest distributor . . . It's almost 3 states away. I'll be calling around to hardware stores and pool stores to see if they carry it at all or could possibly get me some.
