Its just bio balls, and thats how the people at the store setup the tank, I just put it up like my aunt had it.. I agree and disagree with some of the things.. but the overflow bein full of bio balls is the last of my worries. Its just extra filtration.

I saw the balls - Just wondering if you did it for noise reduction. I am sure you know how to build an SOS for the drain. I dont use balls in the overflo due to debris build up and they are a pain to remove for cleaning - tho I have used a wet vac to remove them before.

Actualy no this is my first sump tank. this setup was given to me by my aunt when she went sailing.. I have a 15g nano that I've had for a year now.. and I wanted something bigger and boom my aunt made the offer so what is an SOS? and yea it does help for noise reduction in the overflow.
