Just browsing neighboring cities in CL and I see a 10 gallon FLAT aquarium. I've never heard of such a thing. What would you put in it? What kind of filter could possible work on something like this?

Turtles maybe? a canister should work for such a tank as long as its not on the ground, the ledges look a little too short for a standard 10g hob

Austin, are you seriously suggesting turtles for a 10 gallon tank??? that's way too small for any turtle species.

the photo is not showing up for me, so i will assume it is what people call a 'bookshelf' tank - long and narrow. with only 10 gallons you are limited as to your stocking. i personally would go with a betta and 4 dwarf cories.

there are small hobs out there for these sorts of tanks. i personally would go with a Tom's mini canister, as it gives you decent media room and keeps a majority of equipment off and out of the tank.

Frag tank

Bally beat me to it; that's the setup my lfs has for their frag sales and growout tanks. Theirs is way bigger than 10g of course, they have four which are (guessing) 30 inches square and maybe 6 in high. With a weird and delightful hodgepodge of lighting over it. I have a standing order of dibs on one of them if they ever take it out or go out of business or whatever.

^ its a neat tank, really. Like the bottom six inches of a 29 I is what it looks like in the picture. All footprint, no height.

I would probably do some semi aquatic nano thing. Rock island thing in the middle, surrounded by water. Fiddler crabs maybe? I would think a small turtle would work. You could use one of those whisper turtle filters, like am internal only not fully submerged, but I would go mini canister or DIY a small flat sponge filter. Or even under gravel.

I have certainly seen turtles that fit in a 10g tank. My roomate has had one for 6 years that has plenty of room, in addition with that tank having short walls has a larger surface making it more room as well for something like that

I am sorry, but no turtle is happy in a ten gallon tank, unless it is a BABY mud or musk or something similar sized. I feel horrible for any turtle that has lived in a ten gallon for six years. Water volume is water volume, no matter the foot print, and water volume is just as important for turtles as it is for fish.

That is a seriously cool tank though. I would buy it in a heart beat. I agree on fiddlers, with an island in the middle, or maybe a marmorkreb or dwarf cray. But no turtles please. Especially not "turtles" in the plural sense!!!!
