My little heater in a 10 gallon tank is not terribly reliable. Even if I turn up the power the tank temperature will drop many degrees on a cold night. Now I'm headed out of town for a few days and the heat for my house will only be on very low. I'm worried that my fish will freeze or that my heater will get over worker and die or explode. I have no idea what brand the heater is. So, does anyone have any heater recommendations?

No worries - there are great heaters out there. I've had nothing but good luck with Rena Cal Basic. The same 50 watt has been on my ten gallon for three years, and I haven't had to lay a hand on it since the day I set it up.

Petsmart is running an online special for them right now in fact, and you can get a 50 watt for like 6 or 7 bucks.

petsmart?!!!!!!!!!!!
they destroy locate businesses all around me
n they got crappy fish

Visi-therm makes a 25 and 50 watt model. Heaters are definitely worth spending the extra $ for!
