sure the rules are arbitrary, but rules are what make humans, human.

I don't have a major issue with the ones I can read.

tHeposts that buG mer the 1s dat rhard toread.

Anyone find it odd that Echo started this as a rant about grammar and is now adding vocabulary for Lady G? I think he may be succombing to the darkside in front of our eyes.

The original state of this thread was less in regards to grammatical errors and more in regards to two particular things that people say or do with the language which I find annoying. I mentioned that I look past almost all of the errors to be found except for those two specific things. In fact I wouldn't really call the "whole nother" thing a grammatical error per se; I'm thinking that I may find that annoying because it shows a certain degree of ignorance in that someone isn't taking the time to think about what they are saying.

And the unnecessary apostrophes - come on, anyone who speaks English as a native language and graduated from elementary school knows well how to distinguish between a possessive and a plural. It isn't rocket science.

So the fact isn't so much that I feel better than others for using proper language. If anything I feel unhappy about it and perhaps I get a little upset because it makes me wonder where our culture is heading. It is rather ridiculous that people care so little to retain and utilize these easy, simple little things that they already knew at one time or another. And that they have such little regard for doing something properly.

Ergo it's not so much grammar in particular but just life as a whole. It's just about how little people give a crap about anything. Here we are in the midst of a communications revolution and people don't even care to utilize the fundamentals of language and logic. What else do they not care about?

So are you now saying I am ignorant because I do not find it necessary to make sure all my posts are up to your standards, because I choose to be myself, instead of change my way of speech or my way I write things. The way I type has nothing to do with me as a person. I care deeply for others and many things in life. I do not JUDGE others based on there typing or wording skills. I base my thoughts on ppl by who they are not what they type or how they type it. To tell me I don't care about anything is complete BS...I am probably one of the most caring people you could ever meet..if you actually knew me. Do not try and judge me or say I am ignorant because I don't say things the way YOU think they should be said, and to say I don't care about crap, whatever.

The rant wasn't so much about grammar as it was about two particular things. One is grammar related but the other is not. The separation of another into a nother isn't as much about grammar as it is about plain lack of spacial reasoning. If one can't tell that "another" is a compound of an and other, then I am fearful for the result of any other projects upon which they may embark!
