A chance to build a dream tank...

that's awesome!!

Your welcome, buds.

Ok - I have a 180 gallon FW planted. If you are planning on putting it next to a wall, the best thing I did for the tank is build a "stage" in the back of it. It is about a foot high and 10" wide and 6' long. Unless you are an orangatan, it is very difficult to reach along the back wall/floor of the tank from the front of the tank. Most people's arms are just not long enough. So, keep the tank far enough away from the wall so you can access the back. If you do not want to build a stage-like structure, leave yourself enough room to get a stepladder back there.

Also, FYI - it cost me about $2,300 just to get it set up.

Oh yeah, make sure your tank is level before you put the water in:rolleyes: !!

Yeah, I'mpainfully aware of it. If we do the 180, I think we will budget about $4,000CDN for it... Alternately we will go 75 or 120 and bring the budget down a thousand or two.

any idea on what you are going to have in the tank?

Not 100%, but it's such a nice size that the possibilities are nearly endless. Clown Loaches for sure (always wanted some) and a big school of Corys. 30-50 schooling community fish, maybe Tiger Barbs, some feature fish (could use advice on this one) and Otos, Cherry Shrimp...

Also considering a SA Cichlid tank, but I'm not sure if I can plant with SA Cichlids or not.
