Yes, I have seen this..... The tank is very active. I'm not so sure about a planted tank though, as I would think it is difficult to maintain. (Unless it came with an "easy" button)

what varieties of tiger barbs do you have? i once had a 55g tank with 6 tiger barbs of each variation i was able to find (original, white, green, and red-it wasnt painted). to this day im not sure why i took them back to my lfs...

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy doing the water changes and maintaining the tank. It's just that a planted tank seems to take it to a whole different level. I really dont want to replace my substrate, change my lighting, etc. I have plenty of fun working on my two filters, testing for Ammonia and Nitrites, and doing 30-50 gallon water changes 1-2 times per week.
Tiger barbs have always been a favorite of mine. Awesome fish when kept in large enough schools.
Honestly I never really cared for Barbs. But when I started researching fish my tank, they seemed to fit the bill. I wanted a large school of small fish, and a lot of activity. These fish are so active and interesting. The dynamics of the school changed signifiacantly when I added 10 to the already established school of 10. I'm looking forward to adding another 10 to the tank,
