A few feeding questions...

I have a coral beauty, a yellow mimic tang (the tang who acts like an angel), and a percula clown in a 72-gallon bowfront reef.

1) The tang is an absolute pig. How do I get food to the angel and the clown? The tang bullies the angel a bit at feeding time.

2) My lights come on at 11:00a.m. but I leave the house at 6:30a.m. When I leave, the fish are all in sleep-mode, hiding in the rocks and everything is dark. What should I do? If I throw food in there no one comes out and eats it. But if I don't, the fish don't get fed until I'm home at 5:00p.m.

3) What should I be feeding the coral beauty? (He's new) The only thing I've seen him eat so far is Angel/Butterfly frozen food from San Fransisco Bay Co. (But that stuff's expensive!) Any other suggestions?

1) Spread the food around the tank--give him a bigger chunk, then put smaller pieces where the current will spread them out.

2) Not a problem--I feed my fish around 7pm, every other day. There's always some algae in the tank for them to nibble on, and they are all fat and healthy.

3) There are a few companies that offer an appropriate food, but really you will want to give him an angel formula. Most angels need sponges in their diet, and targetted foods will be better in the long run at meeting his nutritional requirement.
 
I get the Formula Two, which has more sponge matter than Formula One for my bicolor. He's been alive and fat and healthy for 4-5 years now, and hasn't eaten all the sponges in the tank, so I think he's doing well. I prefer the frozen foods--easier to keep for a while. But, there's a lot of evidence that the dried formulas are good--they contain less water, so you fed less, but they have considerable nutrients if kept fresh.
