Where did you stay?

I am headed out there with my family in a couple of months......REALLY psyched. I'm just getting my open water certification. Where did you stay on the island? Did you have any favorite spots? Good places to eat?

We stay at the Sand Dollar, a set of condos north and west of town. Good dive shop right next door, and Bari Reef is right out the front door. Perfect opportunity to do a night dive, then go home for dinner and a glass of wine.

It will take some time to remember where our favorite restaurants are. For some reason, I have pictures in my brain, but no names to go with them.

For me, shore diving is the best way to do the island. Pack a lunch, 2-3 dives worth of tanks in the back of the truck, and hit the road. The sites are well marked, and it gives you a chance to explore things at your own pace. It's hard to name a favorite spot, because all the sites are great, but Jeff Davis and Margate Bay are both incredibly interesting. Alice in Wonderland, with the double reef, is also good. But you get to play with the garden eels at Something Special. Oh, you'll just have to try them all.

I am very jealous that you're going.

Mo...thank you so much for sharing those pics with us ! Wonderful ! Can't wait to see more !

BTW...LOVE your avatar........I'm guessing that pic is of one of your water ponys. :D Have you posted anymore pics of that tank in the marine section ? I haven't visited that section in awhile.

You asked for it. We took about 500. I'll look around for a few good ones.

Haven't done much with the horsies lately. Mostly just sitting and watching. Unlike the reef, the seahorses actually relax me.
