Hello everyone!

I've been thinking long and hard about what to put into my 10 gallon tank I have. I've come up with a few different combinations that could work well, and would like to hear what you all think! Perhaps this could help out others who also own a ten gallon and need help figuring out what they should add or consider.

Some Information about my tank:
  • It is over filtered. I have an Aquaclear 20 running along with a TF Power 10
  • Sand substrate currently that I don't plan to change!
  • A heater that is currently set to 78 degrees, but can easily be changed.
  • pH: of about 7.6, 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite.
Now for my stock ideas!

Pea Puffer Home
  • 3 pea puffers (2 female, one male)
  • 1-3 Asian Stone Catfish
Betta and Friends
  • 1 Male Betta
  • 6 CPD's
Community Tank 1
  • 2 Dwarf Gouramis
  • 8-10 Chili Rasboras OR 6-10 Ember Tetras
  • 1-3 Asian Stone Catfish
Community Tank 2
  • 8-10 Chili Rasboras
  • 6 CPDs
  • 5 Pygmy Copies
Community Tank 3
  • 2-4 Scarlet Badis
  • 6-10 Chili Rasboras
  • 1-2 Asian Stone Catfish
Endler Home
  • 3 Endlers (or more?) (2 F/ 1 M)
  • 6 Pygmy Cories
Guppy Home
  • 3 Guppies (or more?)(2f/1m)
  • 6 Pygmy Copies OR 1-3 Asian Stone Catfish

Any particular one you find most interesting or like the most? Any that need to be changed/reconsidered?

Well, you're on the right track but almost all your choices seem overstocked to me...or will be with M & F livebearers.

The betta & CPDs seems like the most workable OR an all male endlers & pygmy corys.

The mix is good, but your tank is too small. A 15 or 20gal is more suited for your stocking ideas.

Puffers--scale back to 1 and it will be fine. A mated pair MIGHT work but getting a mated pair would be difficult. I wouldn't put the cats in, since they will bury themselves in the sand and the puffer will nip at their whiskers/eyes that stick up.

Betta--hit or miss, might be fine, might go after the cpd but unlikely to catch them. Probably the most workable option.

CT1--drop the gouramies and it's fine, or drop the school. Or, 5-6 and one gouramie.

CT2--I wouldn't do 2 schooling fish that occupy the same area. They will end up being a mess. Bigger tanks can support 2 schools, smaller tanks can't. Just isn't room...and this number of fish would be overcrowded even if the filtration keeps up with the load. First power outage, and you have dead fish.

CT3--I'd go with the school and a pair of badis or the school and the cats, but not all three. Same issues as above, plus cats are predatory. They will compete with the badis for food.

Endler/Guppy tank: Nope to a gender mix. They reproduce quickly, and will overstock the tank in short order. Go with all males and it will be fine, they're peaceful if there aren't girls around to fight over. 4-5 fancy guppies or 5-7 endlers will be ok.

And, for any of the tanks--I'd go with 6+ of the stone cats. They are TINY. Seriously. adult size is MAYBE an inch, and they're social animals. You won't see them often outside of feeding time, and plan to feed after lights out since they are nocturnal. Truthfully, I would have a tank of just them. Loads of leaf litter, low light, java fern, chunk of wood, sand substrate, bunches of shrimp and 15+ moth cats. They're amazing, but reclusive.

I like the CPD and betta idea. You could go with either a male or female betta. I do love CPDs. I started with 6-7 of them in a 10g, 3-4yrs ago. I still have 2 in my 29g. As far as the other 5? Never did find them they're so small.

Betta CPD BUT make it a male betta IMBELLIS and it will work for sure. Probably need to go to Aqua-bid to get one but it would be an awesome tank. as a matter of fact you can do a pair of imbellis with the CPDs in a 10.

Hmmmm. Think I'll do that myself!
