Ok so my mom and I went to Home Depot about 3 weeks ago because she needed an air condtioner filter. She couldnt find the right size, so she bought those cut-to-size filters. So I took the rest. It is blue in color and looked like it would be a great idea for a filter cartridge. I cut 4 circles the size of my Eheim and put 4 layers in there and put 1 on each side of my Penguin 350.

These things have been great! My tank is so clear now. It was before, but I have noticed an improvement in the clarity of my tank. The thing was 9 dollars, but well worth it. I noticed NO ill effects on my tank and fish, and all I had to do to "prepare" it for my tank was rinse it under the sink first.

So I recomend instead of filter floss or filter cartidges that this be used. It was a great experiance.:)

Are they treated with anything?

I havent seen any ill effects of my fish, and its been in for 3 weeks. I dont think it is treated at all.

Ive been using this stuff for years with no visible problems. My wife works at an air conditioning supply whse. Ive got 2 4'x90' rolls(enough for a lifetime)I even took it and zip tied on my magnum and works well.

It works so well it is better then sliced bread!
It is easy to cut if you have a good pair of scissors, and makes your tank look incredable. You guys should try it.

I would think that they are treated with a flame retardant and/or mold inhibitor and would not suggest using them.

nah trust me..... they turn ablaze ...... and thats all I have to say about that.
