Hello there.

So, I'm looking for some opinions because I can't make up my own dang mind. I'm looking into rearranging one of the 10g a bit...

Firstly, should I even bother with messing with the tank since I do want to enter it into AB's contest for the fun of it at the end of this month?

Second, here's what I'm thinking...

Here is the tank, more or less. That stupid stray of repens in the right back corner has been removed. The hair grass has filled in a bit more.
The anachris in the left front is gone and has been replaced with stargrass.

Now, I really despise that tall grass in the back left. I like how it looks..adds texture and fills it in, but it sends out runners that are the biggest pain in the butt EVER to remove...and when I take them out, they rip up other plants. I want to leave some of them in for now, however.

I was thinking about pushing some of them further into the corner and getting rid of some of the front grass. And putting in it's place some didipilis diandra or repens. Maybe even some cabomba behind those if I remove a bit more of the grass. The only other plants I have are those ones...I don't want to order anything new but kind of work with what I've got. So, the choices are didipilis, repens, cabomba (the variety of which I'm not too sure...but it slightly resembles the purplish one...furcata?)

Would that be too red? My diandra doesn't seem that red in the other tank, granted the indica in the other tank isn't as pink either...Also my repens doesn't get that red either.

Any one think I should leave it as is? At least until after the end of the month?

Thanks guys!

Oh, heres the cabomba...Now I think it would be too red in there perhaps...

Forgive the pic...It was a quick one.

i really like it how it is... I wish my plants would fill out like that...

if you're planning on entering it in the contest, i'd just leave it as is.... wouldn't want to disturb anything before hand, ya know?

looks good

I kinda like your tank. Quick question, but what are the short plants in the front middle to right? I still haven't really decided what I want for my own tank that stays short.

You have a very nice tank. I wish my 20’s looked ½ that good. I would enter the contest if it was my tank.

I would change one thing. The plant that is in the far right all by it’s self needs one more just like it, or group it in a set of 3. it looks like you have a few more of them in your tank and I would move one or 2 of them in to the corner with that one. And try to get them to grow a few inches. I just looked back at the pic and think you should only move one more of them but it might grow in a few weeks and fill it in. Since I don’t know what it is I don’t know if it would grow that fast or not?

I love that tank and keep up the good work. Will you come plant my 75 gall I just set up? Please.

Thank you very much guys. Right after I posted I thought about it some more and thought maybe I should leave well enough alone. Still don't know though!

Hound - the small foreground plant that forms a carpet? That's glossostigma. It needs high light and Co2.

Nailed -

"Here is the tank, more or less. That stupid stray of repens in the right back corner has been removed. The hair grass has filled in a bit more.

I did move that stray plant out - Ludwigia repens btw. It didn't belong there. I just stuck it in during a water change to get it out of the way and then laziness took over and I left it in for awhile
:p hehe

Oh, and I'd LOVE a 75g to mess around with!;) I'm sure yours will be just fine though!

Nice tank leopardesss,

I think that there are probably a couple easy things you could do to make your tank setup more interesting and a little more natural.
I would try to do something in the fore to midground on the right side. In the area you have those flat river-looking rocks. I would put something a little more dynamic there, maybe a small piece of driftwood or a more interesting rock...
I think the plants are great, but the overall composition seems slightly lopsided; an interesting piece of structure breaking up the monotony of glossostigma on the right side would help a lot IMO.

Do you have any fishes in there?

Awesome plants!:p

Thanks.

I'm actually going for the right side to remain empty. It's got a J shape to it. Perhaps thats hard to see from the pictures.

It wont look quite as "flat" on that side once the hair grass fills in more. The rocks serve a purpose, however. They keep the hair grass from mixing with the glosso and the glosso from overtaking the whole tank. The pygmies also like to sun on the rocks...They'd be ticked if they got moved!

As for fish. Yes, there are 9 pygmy cories, 1 betta and 4 African dwarf frogs in there.

Thank you for your suggestions though:D

If you want to mess with it I’m in VA. I need to setup a light on it but don’t know witch one. I’m thinking about 200 to 250 watt? Co2 will be added in 2 months. Most of the fish will be Tetras. All the tank specks are in this click me

if you want the job let me know.

Thanks Leapardess. I think I probably overlooked that plant because it is a high light plant. Most sights I could find on the plant say high light required. I did find one posting and pictures from one guys 55g tank with 120 watts and no visible diffuser or airstone that is carpeted with the stuff. He had problems at first, but once he changed his bulbs (he used old ones to start with) the plants stayed low and grew in fairly thick. All in all since I'm at 80 watts (probably going to add 20 watts soon) on a 50g and don't have co2 of any sort going I think I'll have to pass on it.
